How in the world did the U.S. change from having the best scientists in the world who were discovering vitamins, minerals, vaccines and cures for disease, to modern times, where the only medicine available is toxic with horrific side effects, and where nutrient-void, chemical-laden food is being sold at almost every restaurant and grocery store, all in the name of corporate profits that keep the public sick and in need of expensive care?
In the early 1900’s, America was chock full of small farms and families who ate fresh food from those farms. Cancer, diabetes, heart disease and Alzheimer’s barely existed because the soil was rich in nutrients and minerals, and if you did get sick, a doctor would come to your home and give you some herbal tinctures or natural remedies, and that was that.
Then, after World War II, many families left their rural farms and moved closer to factories and began eating processed food that was canned and bagged, lacking the nutrients they had just a decade earlier. Then, fast food operations like McDonalds and Burger King opened up franchises all over America, feeding the public saturated fat and sugar-loaded meals that were hot, cheap, and convenient.
The United States of America is the land of the free and the home of … toxic food and venomous medicine, with chronic care waiting for its next 80 million victims. Here are some basic statistics of a country riddled with disease:
• Cancer: 1,500,000 diagnosed each year; over 50% will die of it.
• Diabetes: 25,000,000 people are diabetics right now (including children); 80,000,000 are borderline.
• Heart Disease and Strokes: 81,000,000 (every third adult) has some type of cardiovascular disease.
• Alzheimer’s Disease: 5,400,000 have Alzheimer’s right now (every 8th senior)

Most U.S. politicians have no ethics and no morals
Once upon a time, insider trading was a scary law that meant prison time for those who violated it. Now, politicians make money off wars they declare themselves, and health insurance companies invest in fast food operations that slowly kill their own clients. Pharmaceutical companies (Merck, Pfizer, Bayer, Bristol Meyers, etc.) are run by CEO’s who served as Governors, Senators, and heads of the FDA, and the Supreme Court itself seats Judges who worked for major pharmaceutical firms, and who will return to those jobs after writing new legislation to benefit their current investments.
Make no mistake, the pesticides used on most U.S. farms give humans cancer, and the politicians who support genetically mutated foods know it. GMO means that the seedlings of fruits and vegetables are spliced with toxic pesticides in a lab, so even if you wash off your food, you are still eating dioxin, the same toxic chemical (Agent Orange) the U.S. dumped on Vietnam which gave our own soldiers cancer. Politicians are supposed to represent the greater good of the people, but now politics is about bastardizing the system for as much money as possible before getting ousted from office 4 years later. Food, medicine and vaccines have become toxic catapults for profiteering by Big Pharma and Government agencies (undercover corporations).

Parkinson’s disease is the second most common degenerative disorder of the central nervous system after Alzheimer’s disease. It is estimated that 1% of individuals over the age of 65 are diagnosed with this disorder. Natural lifestyle interventions can prevent and reverse Parkinson’s disease.
Parkinson’s particularly affects a region of the basal ganglia called the substantia nigra. The basal ganglia are a group of brain structures that utilize dopamine as their primary neurotransmitter. Neuronal loss in these regions is associated with brain cell inflammation and the formation of cross-linked proteins called Lewy bodies in the remaining nerve cells. Lewy bodies are protein aggregates that form and block normal cellular activity.
The most common symptoms of Parkinson’s include movement related disorders such as shaking, rigidity, difficulty walking and slowness of movement. As the disease progresses, it leads to cognitive and behavioral problems such as dementia, insomnia and irritability.
Type II Diabetes Dramatically Increases Parkinson Disease Risk
Researchers in Finland have found that individuals with type II diabetes have an 83% greater risk of developing Parkinson’s. Elevated blood sugar is known to link with protein structures in a process called glycation. This reaction of reducing sugars connecting to amino acids creates advanced glycolytic enzymes (AGE’s). AGE’s are especially dangerous and create massive amounts of free radicals.
AGE damage in the basal ganglia region is associated with Lewy body formation. These structures are created and aggregate in the basal ganglia due to excessive oxidative stress within the sensitive neuronal tissues. Oxidative stress in the brain is most commonly associated with blood sugar imbalances and environmental toxins (such as heavy metals and organic toxins like pesticides and herbicides).

A 7-ounce (1 cup) serving of sweet potatoes contains 65% of the minimum necessary daily amount of Vitamin C. Sweet potatoes are also high in calcium, folate, potassium and beta-carotene. Beta-carotene is an antioxidant which converts to Vitamin A in the body: one serving of sweet potatoes can provide you with as much as 700% of the US RDA for Vitamin A. The Center for Science in the Public Interest rates sweet potatoes as the number one most nutritious vegetable because they such are so nutritionally rich.
2. Low glycemic index
If you are unfamiliar with this term, the glycemic index indicates the impact a food substance has on blood sugar levels. A high glycemic index means blood sugar levels can spike. Diabetes and others who monitor their blood sugar levels seek to avoid foods with a high glycemic index or load. Sweet potatoes have a glycemic load of only 17. (By way of comparison, a white potato has an index of 29.)
3. Accessing sweet potatoes’ nutritional benefits is easy
To gain the maximum health benefits from eating sweet potatoes, avoid discarding their skins — much of their healing potential resides in this portion of the tubers. Also, following the common dieters’ fallacy of avoiding all fats reduces your ability to access sweet potatoes’ benefits: beta-carotene absorbs more thoroughly into the body when consumed with a small amount of fat. Recent research seems to indicate that steaming or boiling sweet potatoes rather than roasting them helps preserve their low glycemic index.
New Research Finds Diabetes Can Be Reversed

I have recently spent more time in drugs stores than I would like helping my sister on her journey through (and hopefully to the other side of) cancer. Rite Aid, CVS and Walgreens all had large diabetes sections offering support for a “diabetes lifestyle” — glucose monitors, lancets, blood pressure cuffs, medications, supplements and pharmacy magazines heavily supported by pharmaceutical advertising. Patients are encouraged to get their eye check ups, monitor their blood pressure, track their blood sugars, have foot exams and see their doctor regularly for better management of their blood sugars — all apparently sensible advice for diabetics.
But what if Type 2 diabetes could be completely reversed? What if it weren’t, as we believe, an inexorable, progressive disease that has to be better “managed” by our health care system with better drugs, surgery and coordination of care?
